The New Newcastle – How Newcastle Has Become One Of The Fastest Developing Cities In NSW

A short stroll through the centre of the Newcastle’s Central Bureau District (CBD) and you will see a city in the midst of a transformation. Newcastle is a city that has long been known for its extensive heritage as an industrial and harbour city. This is rapidly changing with the Government and developers investing to revitalise the city, providing it with new life. With all these developments Newcastle is set to be one of the trendiest cities in Australia.

A significant amount of the heritage listed buildings and even the old train station building have been transformed to maintain the industrial heritage and style with a modern edge to attract visitors from near and far. With the recent completion of the light rail system around the city of Newcastle this alone has brought new life to the area, seen as the new way to explore the city. Newcastle has some of the coasts most stunning beaches and waterfronts, the light rail is set to strengthen the connection between the city centre and the waterfront, with the final stop 200m from Newcastle Beach.

The NSW Government is hoping the transformation to the city will attract people, jobs and tourism, investing over $650 million. Thus far the development has provided Newcastle with a Newcastle Interchange for transport, wire-free light rail, road and footpath upgrades and revitalising land for education and affordable housing opportunities. These developments have already provided so many opportunities to the local Novocastrians and businesses in the area, only set to grow with more developments in the works.

Seeing these rapid developments of Newcastle and with the development industry calling for a local office furniture company that can service large projects, Pace Group set out to find the perfect location for a new Designspace. After a six-month search we have selected the ‘Westend building’ in Charles Street, Wickham for our new showroom – and are currently fitting it out to offer a facility that has not been previously available in the Hunter.

We can’t wait to open our new Designspace in Wickham, to provide innovative and fresh ideas to the modern workspaces being developed in and around Newcastle. Our Newcastle Designspace is scheduled for launch over the coming weeks, a unique and innovative space for you to interact with our contemporary furniture solutions.

  • Our new Designspaces address is 22 Wickham Street, Wickham, NSW (directly across from the Newcastle Interchange).
